Online Phenol Analyser
Monitor phenol in refinery, process-water and wastewater applications using sensitive automated colorimetry.

Online Phenol Analyser with AccuSeries
AccuSeries can automate colorimetric phenol measurement for suitable refinery, industrial process-water and effluent applications. The required range, sample preparation and potential interferences determine the final method. Read PMA’s independent phenol application guide for wider measurement context.
An approved AccuSeries reference setup covers 0–20 ppm phenol using a modified antipyrine colorimetric method with dilution, two reagent additions and controlled colour-development time. PMA verifies whether that range and chemistry fit the live sample before specification. Explore the refinery sour-water application guide and colorimetric analyser hub.
Programmable online phenol analysis
The approved 0–20 ppm reference method uses modified antipyrine chemistry. The configured sequence dilutes a small captured sample, adds 4-aminoantipyrine and ammonium persulfate reagents, then allows the colour to develop before optical measurement.
01 / CONFIGURED METHOD
Modified antipyrine colorimetry
Range, dilution, reagent volumes and colour-development time are configured together; they cannot be selected independently of the sample matrix.
- Reference range of 0–20 ppm for the documented setup
- 500 nm measurement with 810 nm optical reference
- Controlled dilution and ten-minute final colour development
02 / AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Sampling, calibration and cleaning
The programme controls sample capture, dilution, reagent addition and timed colour development before reporting the phenol result. PMA sets calibration and cleaning around the real effluent or process matrix.
- Automatic sampling
- Automatic calibration
- Automatic cleaning
A controlled phenol measurement sequence
Each phenol result follows a configured sampling, reagent, measurement, calculation and maintenance sequence.
01.
Capture the sample
The internal fast loop and sample mechanism provide a representative, consistent sample volume for phenol analysis.
02.
Add method reagents
The programmed sequence doses the reagents required for the selected phenol method.
03.
Run the configured method
The approved phenol method proceeds under controlled conditions.
04.
Calculate the phenol result
The measured response is converted into the configured phenol concentration result.
05.
Calibrate
Automatic calibration can run against configured phenol standards at selected intervals.
06.
Clean
Automatic cleaning supports the phenol measurement system between planned maintenance visits.
Phenol-specific configuration checks
The documented reference setup demonstrates how range, dilution, optical path and reaction time are engineered as one complete phenol method.
Range and dilution
Confirm whether the expected phenol concentration fits the validated method range.
Colour development
Allow the programmed reaction time required for the final optical response.
Optical materials
Review probe, reflector and wetted materials against the sample.
Reagent plan
Plan dilution water, antipyrine reagent, persulfate reagent and standards.
