Online Mercaptans Analyser
Measure mercaptans in refinery and hydrocarbon processes to support treatment and product-quality control.

Online Mercaptans Analyser with AccuSeries
AccuSeries can be configured for mercaptan analysis in suitable refinery, hydrocarbon and chemical-process samples. Method selection considers the mercaptan species, range, sample handling and process conditions. Read PMAโs independent mercaptans application guide for wider measurement context.
A documented combined mercaptan and sulphide configuration uses potentiometric titration with silver nitrate after ionic-strength adjustment. PMA confirms the mercaptan species, reporting basis, hydrocarbon or solvent matrix, expected sulphide and sample transport before selection. Explore the refinery sour-water analysis page and AccuSeries platform.
Programmable online mercaptans analysis
The approved combined configuration uses an alcohol-based ionic-strength adjusting buffer and dilute silver-nitrate titrant to resolve sulphide and mercaptan endpoints. The application review must define which mercaptan result is required and how the sample will reach the analyser without changing.
01 / CONFIGURED METHOD
Potentiometric mercaptan titration
Titrant strength, sample matrix, expected sulphide and calibration standards are configured together for the required mercaptan range.
- Ionic-strength adjustment for the sample matrix
- Silver-nitrate titrant with potentiometric endpoints
- Combined mercaptan and sulphide reporting where appropriate
02 / AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Sampling, calibration and cleaning
The automated sequence controls buffer and titrant delivery before calculating the mercaptan result. Calibration-standard stability, cleaning and safe reagent handling form part of the maintenance plan.
- Automatic sampling
- Automatic calibration
- Automatic cleaning
A controlled mercaptans measurement sequence
Each mercaptans result follows a configured sampling, reagent, measurement, calculation and maintenance sequence.
01.
Capture the sample
The internal fast loop and sample mechanism provide a representative, consistent sample volume for mercaptans analysis.
02.
Add method reagents
The programmed sequence doses the reagents required for the selected mercaptans method.
03.
Run the configured method
The approved mercaptans method proceeds under controlled conditions.
04.
Calculate the mercaptans result
The measured response is converted into the configured mercaptans concentration result.
05.
Calibrate
Automatic calibration can run against configured mercaptans standards at selected intervals.
06.
Clean
Automatic cleaning supports the mercaptans measurement system between planned maintenance visits.
Mercaptan-specific configuration checks
Mercaptan analysis begins with the chemical species, hydrocarbon or solvent matrix, sulphide content and the operational decision attached to the result.
Species and basis
Define the target mercaptan species and how the result will be reported.
Matrix compatibility
Review solvent composition, sulphide and sample-conditioning requirements.
Endpoint design
Configure titration range and endpoint interpretation for the real sample.
Calibration plan
Specify appropriate sulphide and mercaptan standards and their handling.

Discuss your mercaptans measurement
Tell PMA about your sample, measuring range and process objective. An applications engineer will review whether AccuSeries and an available analytical method are appropriate.
