Online Water Hardness Analyser
Measure calcium and magnesium hardness for softening, ion exchange, reverse osmosis and brine control.

Online Water Hardness Analyser with AccuSeries
AccuSeries can automate hardness measurement for water softening, ion-exchange, reverse-osmosis and brine applications. A complexometric titration or other suitable method is configured around the required range and sample composition. Read PMAโs independent hardness application guide for wider measurement context.
For hardness in brine, an approved configuration can distinguish calcium hardness, total hardness and magnesium hardness by calculation. PMA confirms whether potentiometric complexometric titration or HNB colorimetry suits the matrix, range and operating decision before selection. Explore the AccuSeries online wet chemistry analyser and its water and process applications.
Programmable online water hardness analysis
An approved hardness-in-brine method uses selective complexometric titration: EGTA determines calcium hardness, EDTA determines total hardness and magnesium hardness is calculated from the difference. An HNB colorimetric route is also documented for suitable applications.
01 / CONFIGURED METHOD
Select the hardness result and method
The analyser must be configured around the hardness fraction required by the operator and the sample chemistry, rather than a generic hardness label.
- Calcium hardness by selective EGTA titration
- Total hardness by EDTA titration
- Magnesium by difference, or HNB colorimetry where appropriate
02 / AUTOMATIC OPERATION
Sampling, calibration and cleaning
Cycle time and reagent planning depend on the chosen route. The reference methods record approximately 15 minutes for potentiometric titration and 16 minutes for HNB colorimetry, subject to the final application configuration.
- Automatic sampling
- Automatic calibration
- Automatic cleaning
A controlled water hardness measurement sequence
Each water hardness result follows a configured sampling, reagent, measurement, calculation and maintenance sequence.
01.
Capture the sample
The internal fast loop and sample mechanism provide a representative, consistent sample volume for water hardness analysis.
02.
Add method reagents
The programmed sequence doses the reagents required for the selected water hardness method.
03.
Run the configured method
The approved water hardness method proceeds under controlled conditions.
04.
Calculate the water hardness result
The measured response is converted into the configured water hardness concentration result.
05.
Calibrate
Automatic calibration can run against configured water hardness standards at selected intervals.
06.
Clean
Automatic cleaning supports the water hardness measurement system between planned maintenance visits.
Hardness-specific configuration checks
Specification starts with the hardness fraction, brine or water matrix, reporting range and reagent plan needed for the operating decision.
Result basis
Define calcium, magnesium, total hardness or the required combination.
Matrix review
Confirm salinity, expected hardness range and sample-conditioning needs.
Method route
Choose complexometric titration or the documented HNB colorimetric route.
Reagent planning
Account for method-specific buffers, titrants, indicator stability and analysis frequency.
